The crew over at Racecar Engineering scored some excellent footage of Toyota’s all new LeMans racer, the TS030, testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. What sets this car apart from other entries to this year’s LeMans racing series is that it’s a hybrid. Watch as the car starts-up on its own (no starter motor required) then rolls down the pit lane in electric mode before firing up that raunchy V8 as it exits. The sound is truly ethereal.
The second video shows the car reverting back to electric mode as it enters the pit lane. This comes two years before the 2014 FIA Formula 1 rule changes mandating that all cars must run in electric mode (no ignition and no fuel supply to the engine) at all times when being driven in the pit lane.
